SOCO Wildland Firefighter Program

The Southern Colorado Interagency Wildland Fire Team (SOCO) is an all-volunteer wildland fire response agency established in January of 2022 due to the continued increase in outside fires and associated values at risk.  The Team supports wildland fire operations and training for six southern El Paso County, Colorado Fire Departments collectively known as the South Group: Security Fire Department, Stratmoor Hills Fire District, Hanover Fire Department, Fountain Fire Department, Southwest Highway 115 Fire Department, and Fort Carson Fire Department. The team has approximately 35 members and is on call 365 days a year for wildland fire response in the South Group and surrounding regions. They also assist with various trainings and community events throughout the year.
